The future of education and technology

It’s impressive watching technology innovation happening all around us and I often wonder how this will impact pedagogy in the future.  A great example of one innovation is ‘Birdly’ – the immersive bird flight simulator developed by Zurich University of the Arts based on Oculus VR, opening new avenues for teaching, learning and experience generally.

Technological innovation and ease of access does not make significant or quick pedagogical changes a fait accompli however – my own son has recently started school and brings home the very same homework book I had, with lines for handwriting practice on the lower half of the page and a blank space for drawing a picture on the top.  But that was the last 30 years …
